"Crossroads: Art and AI," is a panel discussion presented by Immersive Arts Alliance, moderated by Vanessa Chang, and featuring Evo Heyning, Toshi Hoo, and Bogdana (Bobi) Rakova. We look forward to sharing perspectives from three thought leaders in the field.
So much is happening at the nexus of art and artificial intelligence. Billions invested, court battles underway, and a complete upending of the labor market imminent. As evidence we are at some crossroads, a seemingly endless spring of computer-generated art pours forth daily, unbidden, on our social media channels. The technology seems to have uncovered a wellspring of creativity - and unleashed a torrent of controversy.
While there are vital questions about legality, the impact on working artists and designers, and the corporatization of A.I., this conversation reclaims the long legacy of machine-assisted artmaking and its creative potential. We are looking at AI from an artist's perspective, in an effort to peer around the curtain of hype and panic. This discussion will give the audience a taste of how the technology works, share experiences working with it, consider where it goes from here, and will explore how these tools can and are being used creatively.
